Writing Stories

For years, I’ve wanted to write stories. To be honest, I’ve even written a handful of stories in Bangla. But I couldn’t continue. Was it because I couldn’t find plots that I liked or was it the fact that the people’s patience to sit through and read long stories online have vanished over the years? I don’t know. I guess it was a mix of both.

These past few days, I’ve been reading quite a lot of user-generated stories. I say user-generated because I assume most of the stories that I’m reading are not apparently written by professional or veteran writers. They appear to have been written by enthusiastic writers, and that gives me inspiration. Perhaps I can do it too?

The worm that I have in my mind is the will to write in English. Writing in a second language is difficult enough. Writing literature in a second language, especially when I’m not familiar with all the idioms and phrases and all the expressions of the language, is a task much harder than anything else. I’ve written millions of words over the years in English. However, they are all news articles, non-fiction stories. When it comes to fiction, things tend to get a little bit harder.

I’ve got a plot on my mind as I’m writing this. Perhaps I’ll end up writing this story somewhere? Let’s hope for the best!
